Now that you have some idea of what you want, on day 8 of Living Better In 14 Days With Pen And Paper let’s focus on a few things that you think are holding you back. Not little bad habits, but bigger things. Like maybe a job change, or learning a new skill, or bolstering a weakness. Think back to that really grating advice you were given, perhaps by someone on the list from yesterday’s exercise. You know, about being more detail oriented, or thinking outside the box, or whatever. Maybe food for thought?
Do not focus on the negative aspects of things. In other words, don’t write “my job sucks”, write “find a job that better leverages my people skills”
So, you’ve got some barriers – how many? Three to five is a reasonable number. Why are you writing them? A few reasons.
First, you can’t solve a problem until you acknowledge it exists.
Second, we fix what we can see is broken, and what we focus on.
Third, you might not be able to deal with these barriers effecively right now, but when will you? A journay of a thousand miles starts not with the first step, but the decision to take the first step.
